Job Description Summary

  • The Humana Infrastructure Technical Writer will be responsible for gathering, authoring and publishing clear, concise and high-quality content for a variety of audiences. This position will be responsible for managing large-scale projects, working closely with technology teams, technology owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create all required technology document (technical reference architecture, operations playbooks, operations runbooks, operational specifications, and related technical publications). In addition, this position will perform quality assurance on content developed to ensure adherence to set styles and standards and provide technical support for our knowledge management system.

Job Description

Technical Writer will be responsible for:

  • Track documentation deliverables as part of an overall product development schedule and communicate changes to internal and external partners
  • Use multiple tools and methodologies to produce user content for a variety of audiences
  • Create task-oriented documentation for new products in fast-paced business environment
  • Participate in a dynamic authoring environment designed around quality, continuous improvement and fast-paced delivery.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams in the development of documentation
  • Technical support for publishing, archiving, creating new KM tool components
  • Collaborate with Product Teams, and Engineers to create necessary content
  • Write content for different audiences including product owners, engineers, and operations
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
  • Conduct usability test studies to gather end-user feedback in order to recommend and implement documentation improvements
  • Prioritize projects based on customer needs and development releases
  • Create and maintain information architecture
  • Effectively communicate project status and timelines to leadership
  • Mentor and/or instructs junior writers
  • Additional Job Description
  • 4 or more years of technical experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Broad infrastructure & cloud knowledge
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, independent development, tight, multi-faceted timelines
  • Ability to grasp complex requirements and distill them into usable documentation
  • Experience mentoring and directing the work of other technical staff
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
